Senior Leadership Team
Vice President and Chief Information and Digital Officer
Ron Kraemer was appointed vice president and chief information officer at the University of Notre Dame in August, 2010.
Before coming to Notre Dame, Ron was a member of the leadership team of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, most recently serving as its chief information officer and vice provost for information technology.
A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Ron earned a master’s degree from the University of Tennessee, where his research concerned geographical information systems. Before joining the University of Wisconsin staff, he was a program manager at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee, where he worked with the University of Tennessee overseeing information technology operations and research initiatives and developing the system used to plan and schedule all airlift for Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm during the 1990-91 war in Iraq. He also served as associate director of the Energy, Environment and Resources Center at the University of Tennessee and spent several years as a senior systems analyst at Lockheed Missiles and Space Co., Inc., in Oak Ridge.
As vice president and chief information officer, Ron leads all aspects of Notre Dame’s Office of Information Technologies, including a staff of more than 200. He oversees information technology (IT) infrastructure that supports the entire campus community, development of enterprise systems that underlie many of the University’s teaching, learning, research, engagement and business activities, and establishment of a governance structure to plan for future IT service needs across campus.
Interim Senior Director, Infrastructure Services
John serves as the Interim Senior Director of OIT's Infrastructure Services division. In this role he is responsible for the design, deployment and maintenance of the underlying IT infrastructure used to deliver univeristy services. His staff support the communications infrastructure, storage and backup, and physical IT facilities and processes required to ensure a reliable and stable infrastructure.
John joined Notre Dame in 2000, and has served in multiple technical and leadership roles with the OIT, most recently serving as the Infrastructure Services Architect and leading the stadium Wi-Fi deployment effort. Prior to coming to Notre Dame, John worked in IT within the automotive and the healthcare industries. John earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana State University, studying business and IT.
Senior Director, IT Service Delivery
Mike Chapple is Senior Director for IT Service Delivery. In this role, he oversees information security and compliance, IT architecture, project management, product management, metrics and data stewardship. Mike also serves as a concurrent assistant professor in the Computer Applications program.
Mike previously served as Senior Advisor to the Executive Vice President. Prior to that, he led the University’s Information Security Program and held a variety of roles in the private sector and military. He is the author of several technical books.
Mike earned both his BS and Ph.D. from Notre Dame in computer science. He also holds a MS from the University of Idaho and an MBA from Auburn.
Senior Director, Customer IT Solutions
Todd Hill is Senior Director of Customer IT Solutions. He is responsible for overseeing the majority of external customer-faciing IT solutions that the OIT provides to campus in three primary areas: Applications Development and Support, Distributed Support Services and Enterprise Solutions. Todd also serves as a concurrent instructor for the Mendoza College of Business, and currently teaches Project Management.
He held several positions with Notre Dame dating back to 2004, including HR/Payroll Project Services Lead, HR Tech and Business Process Manager, and Director, HRIS and HR Strategy. He currently serves as a committee member for team APEX and leadership development.
Todd earned both bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Notre Dame, graduating cum laude and magna cum laude respectively.
Senior Director, IT Administration
Doug Kroll became the Senior Director of IT Administration for the OIT in January 2011. In this position, he is responsible for the OIT’s budget, human resources and facilities management.
He is a Certified Public Accountant, has a bachelor of science degree in accounting and master of accountancy degree from Manchester College. Doug also earned a master of nonprofit administration degree from the University of Notre Dame.
In July 1999, Doug began working in the Controller’s Office at Notre Dame and served as the Director of Finance & Administration at the Mendoza College of Business from October 2001 to January 2011.
Senior Director, User Services
Katie Rose is Senior Director for User Services. In this role, she oversees communication and marketing, configuration management, help desk, service center, campus workstation, and related functions. Katie also serves as a concurrent assistant professional instructor in the Computer Applications program.
Katie previously served as director of communications and product services. Prior to that, she participated in the campus leadership rotation program by taking on roles in several campus offices, and she held a variety of roles within the OIT since she began working here in 1999.
Katie earned her B.A. from Notre Dame in psychology with a double major in Computer Applications.
Senior Director, Teaching and Learning Technologies
Peggy Rowland is the Senior Director of Teaching and Learning Technologies. She oversees the development and support of teaching and learning, research and scholarship, with a focus on emerging technologies that will shape the future of teaching and learning at Notre Dame. Her team specializes in the design of technology-enhanced learning spaces in academic and administrative units.
Peggy has been with the university for 16 years after leaving Indiana University. Peggy has served on the board at Signal Learning, Educause and SIGUCCS.
Peggy earned a bachelor’s degree from Indiana University. Peggy lives in Cassopolis, Michigan with her husband Mike, who is also employed as a system administrator in the OIT.
Senior Director, Campus Technology Services
David Seidl serves as the Senior Director for Campus Technology Services at the University of Notre Dame. As the Senior Director for CTS, David is responsible for central platform and operating system support, database administration and services, identity and access management, application services, and email and digital signage. David also serves as a concurrent instructor in the Mendoza College of Business teaching a networking and security course.
David has been at Notre Dame since 2007, and was formerly the Director of Information Security and the information Security Program Manager. David has worked in both higher education and industry prior to coming to Notre Dame, and recently co-authored his first book.
David holds a bachelor's degree in Communication Technology and amasters degree in Information Security from Eastern Michigan University, as well as CISSP, GPEN, and GCIH certifications.
Executive Director, ND Studios
Dan Skendzel leads Notre Dame Studios, a new campus department that provides technical capability and support for campus multimedia production. Notre Dame Studios will operate from the state-of-the-art Rex and Alice Martin Digital Media Center opening July 2017 in the Corbett Family Hall.
Most recently, Skendzel oversaw Fighting Irish Media (FIM) and athletic department branding. In this role he integrated Fighting Irish Digital Media and Athletics Media Relations into Fighting Irish Media, designing the strategy to grow FIM's ability to tell Notre Dame's story through the lens of athletics.
Skendzel has worked at Notre Dame in a number of roles for the past 15 years. Prior to launching Fighting Irish Digital Media in 2011, Skendzel participated in a campus leadership rotation program completing projects in Human Resources, Athletics and General Counsel's Office over a two-year span. Skendzel also spent eight years in the Office of Business Operations overseeng Administrative Services, consisting of Risk Management and Safety, Warehouse & Delivery, Transportation, Aviation and Remote Campus Operations.
Prior to coming to the University, Skendzel worked at Dynamis Solutions as an e-commerce consultant and at Proctor & Gamble as a Plant Acccounting Manager. Skendzel is a Notre Dame graduate, having received his BA in '91 in Amercian Studies, and his MBA in '98 in Finance.
Skendzel enjoys spending time with his wife, Carrie, and their four childern, Ted, Jeanette, Nathan, and Maureen. He also enjoys camping, triathlons and cross-country skiing.
