Oracle Calendar/CorporateTime & Palm Pilots
(Faculty/Staff Only)
PalmPilot owners can download the Oracle Calendar Sync program to synchronize their Oracle Calendar/CorporateTime and PalmPilot information. Due to licensing changes, there is now no cost for the Oracle Calendar Sync software for PalmPilots for Notre Dame faculty and staff.
Oracle Calendar Sync works by modifying the HotSync operation: as HotSync is run, the PalmPilot is synchronized with Oracle Calendar/CorporateTime (instead of Palm Desktop). As a result, PalmPilot's Date Book and To Do List entries are synchronized with Oracle Calendar/CorporateTime's events and tasks.
Be sure to read all instructions below carefully!
Installing Oracle Calendar Sync Software
You will need your Oracle Calendar/CorporateTime user name and password that you received from the OIT in an email titled "CorporateTime Registration Confirmation." The OIT highly suggests that Windows users remove any old CorporateSync software before you start. To remove the old CorporateSync Software, please follow these instructions:
- Go to the Control Panel and open Add/Remove Programs.
- Locate Corporate Sync for Palm and remove it.
- During un-installation, it will ask you if you wish to return the HotSync operations associated with to the original defaults and make Palm Desktop the default. Choose "Yes" and complete the un-installation.
- It is important that you DO NOT HotSync at this point.
All users should remove CorporateSync application from your handheld:
- Turn on your handheld and go to the main screen that lists all of the applications.
- Tap the menu icon to the left of the area you normally use to scribe text. The Application menu should appear at the top of the handheld screen.
- Select Delete and wait for the list of applications to appear.
- When the list appears scroll down until you locate an application called CS Setup.
- Highlight CS Setup and tap the Delete button.
- Click Yes when asked for confirmation.
- Click Done.

Avoiding problems when using Oracle Calendar Sync
The following items are known to create problems for PalmPilot users.
- Do not create and modify repeating entries using your PalmPilot. Repeating Events created with the PalmPilot cannot be synchronized with Oracle Calendar/CorporateTime; however, repeating Entries created with Oracle Calendar/CorporateTime can be properly synchronized with the PalmPilot.
- Only synchronize the PalmPilot with your on-line Agenda. Synchronizing with the off-line Agenda can (and usually does) cause duplicate entries.
