Personal Mobile Telephone Service

NextG Networks in conjunction with the University has installed a distributed mobile phone antenna system across the Notre Dame campus. The distributed system provides excellent mobile phone reception for students, faculty and staff who subscribe through one of the participating mobile phone service providers.

AT&T Mobility is one provider that has agreed to participate. The company also offers a discount to Notre Dame students, faculty and staff to subscribe to the AT&T Mobility service. You will find information the AT&T Mobility Student web site and the AT&T Mobility Employee web site. All Notre Dame AT&T Mobility subscribers get a 20% discount on AT&T Mobility equipment. Students receive a 5% discount on all personal AT&T Mobility service plans, and faculty/staff receive a 3% discounts on all personal AT&T Mobility service plans. (These discounts do not apply to University provided AT&T Mobility corporate lines.)

Verizon has also agreed to participate. For information on Verizon service plans and equipment, please visit the Verizon web site. All Notre Dame Verizon Wireless subscribers get a 20% discount on equipment. Faculty/staff receive a 17% discounts on all personal Verizon Wireless service plans. (These discounts do not apply to University provided Verizon Wireless corporate lines.)

International students who would like to sign up for cellular service with AT&T Mobility or Verizon wireless, but who do not have a United States social security number or record of credit history, currently are required by the providers to pay refundable deposit.  The deposit typically costs between $500.00 and $1,000.00 (USD). The cellular providers refund the deposits after one year of service on accounts that are in good standing. Please visit the Verizon or AT&T Mobility website for more information.

Note: There is no longer a mandatory telephone charge in the undergraduate residence hall rooms, but you will still have the opportunity to subscribe to a local telephone service. The cost for an in-room phone will be $161.00 per semester. Should you require an in-room residence hall phone, please visit Notre Dame Intergrated Communication Services or call 574-631-8111.

Departmental Mobile Telephone Service

Some departments on campus supply mobile telephone service to their employees due to the nature of their jobs. Please call 631-8100 or 631-8102 for detailed information on ordering cell phones for departmental purposes.

University Rental Mobile Telephone Service

Rental phones are available for $5.00 per day. The phones will work across the US or internationally. Any roaming or long distance charges incurred would also be the renters responsibility.
