Information on Exchanging your cable modem

Notre Dame faculty, staff and students living off campus can subscribe at a reduced price to Comcast's High Speed Internet service under an exclusive Notre Dame Comcast Affinity Plan. Plus, local "network peering" between Comcast and Notre Dame networks, gives computer users more direct access to Notre Dame network services, such as e-mail, calenders, shared storage and Notre Dame websites.

Bandwidth speeds will vary, with an average 4 Mbps downstream and upload speeds approximately 384 kbps.

Rates

  • $32.00 per month for current Comcast cable TV subscribers (regularly $42.00)
  • $42.00 per month for non-Comcast subscribers (regularly $60.95)
    (Taxes and franchise fees will apply. Notre Dame rates for Comcast high-speed Internet services cannot be combined with other Comcast offers.)

Comcast Blast (refer to www.comcast.com for terms and details for Blast service)

  • $49.97 per month for current Comcast cable TV subscribers.
  • $64.97 per month for non-Comcast subscribers. (Taxes and franchise fees will apply. Notre Dame rates for Comcast high-speed Internet services cannot be combined with other Comcast offers.)

Subscribe Over the Internet Using the Special Online Form

For those Who Prefer to Call to Subscribe

  • To change your Comcast Internet subscription to the Notre Dame Comcast Affinity Plan, set up a new subscription or to find out more, call Comcast Customer Service at 866-594-1234.
  • Follow these steps:
    • Select 1 for English or (2 for Spanish)
    • Enter phone number listed on your account when prompted
    • Select 3 for ordering or adding new services
    • Select 2 for Internet
    • Select 1 for ordering or adding services
    • Hold for next available Comcast representative
  • Identify yourself to the customer service representative as a member of the Notre Dame family (student, faculty or staff) to receive Comcast’s exclusive Notre Dame Internet pricing. Contact the Notre Dame ICS Help Desk (631-9000) if you require help subscribing.

Equipment (Cable Modems & Modem Exchange)

Subscribers will require a cable modem that is compatible with Comcast's high-speed Internet service, which Comcast will provide to subscribers as part of its affinity pricing agreement with Notre Dame. Those who already have a cable modem should check the brand and model number against Comcast's end-of-life (EOL) modem list. If your modem is on the EOL list, you will need to exchange it for a new one to take advantage of the high speeds provided through the Comcast affinity program.

There is no need to exchange your modem if it is NOT on the list. Also there is no need to turn in a cable modem that you own, since Comcast provides a rental unit at no additional cost as part of the Notre Dame Comcast Affinity Plan.

To exchange your old Comcast rental cable modem for a new unit take it to:

  • The Comcast store at 6502 N. Grape Rd., Mishawaka (9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday - Friday; Saturday 9:00 - 1:00 p.m.)
