Vacation Auto Reply

Please note: If you are a student whose email account is on Google Apps, auto-replies will be handled through the Google Gmail interface.

When you are unable to check your email for extended periods of time (e.g., when you are on vacation), users can be made aware of this by using the vacation auto-reply feature. You can set up an email message that will automatically reply to any email sent to you. For example, you can create an email that states "I will be out of the office from January 5-15. I will respond to your message when I return." Any email that is sent to you when the vacation auto-reply feature is activated, will receive this message.

To set up or remove a vacation auto reply on your Notre Dame email account:

  1. Login to the Enterprise Directory Service (EDS) with your NetID and password.
  2. From the display of your personal entry in EDS, select the Email Options button.
  3. Click the link for Set Auto-Reply.
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  5. Be sure to click the Save Changes button at the top to activate the auto-reply.
