To setup Entourage 2004 to access the Notre Dame Directory:

  1. In Entourage, go to the Tools menu and select Accounts > Directory Service > New.
  2. Use the following settings:
    • Account Name:  ND Directory
    • LDAP Server:  directory.nd.edu
  3. Select the Options tab.
    • For the search base, enter:
      o="University of Notre Dame",st=Indiana,c=US
  4. Close the Accounts dialog.
  5. Next, from the Entourage menu, select Preferences > Mail & News Preferences > Compose.
  6. Place a check in the box for Automatically check names when sending messages
  7. Close the Preferences dialog.

After establishing these settings, when typing an e-mail address the ND Directory will be searched. Often a first initial, followed by an asterisk "*" and a space and then the first few letters of a last name will be enough to retrieve a person's complete email address in a menu.
