Windows Eudora v. 6 for POP Email Upgrade Setup
Please note: Qualcomm has stopped development and significantly limited support for Eudora.
NOTE: In order to ensure that Eudora is setup for SSL and SMTP Authentication, you MUST follow these instructions EXACTLY!
If you've not already done so, you may download Eudora v.6 HERE.
- Go to Tools menu and select Options.
- Select Getting Started category in the column on the left.
- Real name: your name should appear as you would like it to appear in the header of messages you send (e.g., Anne Smith).
- Return address: your email address (e.g., asmith@nd.edu) should appear.
- Mail Server (Incoming): should have pop.nd.edu
- Login Name: your NetID (e.g., asmith) should appear.
- SMTP Server (Outgoing): should be smtp.nd.edu – do NOT change.
- Select the Incoming Mail category in the column on the left. Next to the Server Configuration: option, select POP.

- Do NOT change any of the other options in this section.
- To ensure that security settings are correct, select the Checking Mail category. Make sure that the Secure Sockets when Receiving option is set to Required, Alternate Port.

- Now, select the Sending Mail category and make sure Secure Sockets when Sending is set to Required STARTTLS.
- Click OK.
Eudora is already configured to work with the ND Directory Services.
