IMAP Quotas

The Notre Dame e-mail service implements a "soft" IMAP quota. When you exceed your "soft quota", you have a 14 day grace period in order to delete or archive messages. If you remain over your soft quota after this grace period, all incoming email will be rejected until you delete or archive enough messages to get below your quota again.

  • Officer/Faculty/Staff: Soft quota limit = 250 MB; Hard quota limit = 1000 MB
  • Grad Student: Soft quota limit = 250 MB; Hard quota limit = 1000 MB
  • Undergraduate Students/NONND Affiliates/Departmental Accounts: Soft quota limit = 100 MB; Hard quota limit = 500 MB

A reminder message will be sent to the user every day while they are over the soft quota limit, and they will still continue to receive email. After the 14 day grace period, if the user still exceeds their soft quota, all incoming email will be rejected until they delete or archive enough messages to get below their quota again. If a user reaches the hard quota limit prior to the 14 day grace period expiring, messages will be rejected until they are back beneath the soft quota limit.

To check your IMAP quota , please login to Webmail. The quota is displayed as a bar graph in the upper right corner of the Inbox display and will look similar to: Quota Graph

The webmail system can be accessed at: https://webmail.nd.edu
