Setup Mac OS X Eudora v. 6 for POP Email
Please note: Qualcomm has stopped development and significantly limited support for Eudora.
NOTE: In order to ensure that Eudora is setup for SSL and SMTP Authentication, you MUST follow these instructions EXACTLY!
Download the compressed Eudora 6 installer for Mac OS X HERE. (You will need to sign in with your NetID and password to get the installer.) After running the installer program, follow the instructions below to configure Eudora correctly.
- Open Eudora.

- Go to the Special menu and then click on Settings.
- In the Getting Started category enter the following information:
- Username: Your NetID (e.g., asmith)
- Real Name: Your First and Last Name (e.g., Anne Smith)
- Return Address: The preferred version of your e-mail address (e.g., asmith@nd.edu)
- Click on the Checking Mail category on the left hand side of the Settings window.
- Change the Mail Host to: pop.nd.edu
- Change the Mail Protocol to: POP

- When asked if you really want to change to POP, click Convert to POP.
- Click OK.
- Go to the File menu and click Check Mail.
- Enter the password for your account when asked and click OK.
- The first time you check mail you will be asked if you want to add the SSL certificate for pop.nd.edu to your Keychain. Click OK and you will not be asked again in the future.
- Go back to the File menu and click Check Mail again.
- Now go to the Message menu and choose New Message and
send a test message to yourself.

- Click Send.
- Like the first time you check mail, you will be asked if you want
to add an SSL certificate for smtp.nd.edu to your Keychain the first
time you send mail, click OK.

- Go back to the File menu and click Check Mail again to force Eudora to send the test message.
- Wait a few seconds and Check Mail again to see if you received your test message.
Eudora is now set up to securely your login information to send and receive mail and is already configured to work with the ND Directory Service.
