- Click the Edit Server List... button.
- Click the Add Server button.
- Double-click under Service name and change the service name to: ND Directory
- In the Host name field type: directory.nd.edu
- In the Search Base field type: ou=people,dc=nd,dc=edu
- Click Close.
- Close the Mail Preferences dialog.
For Mac OS X Mail (OS Versions 10.2 or higher):

- Fill in the following information:
- Name: ND Directory
- Server: directory.nd.edu
- Search Base: dc=nd,dc=edu
- Click the Save button.
- Click the Close button.
- Close the Composing pane.
After establishing these settings you will be able to retrieve email addresses when composing new messages. There is no need to type "*" as a wildcard because it is used by default. Note however that the search is performed on the given name, family name (surname), and mail attributes, not on the common name, so finding someone by nickname or a prior family name may not be possible. Also the name returned is a composite of given name and family name and may not be the person's preferred display name.
