Instructions for Creating Security (SSL & SMTP Authentication) Settings for Outlook Express & Outlook 2000 POP Setup

NOTE: In order to ensure that Outlook is setup for SSL and SMTP Authentication, you MUST follow these instructions EXACTLY!

1. Open up Outlook Express or Outlook and go to Tools > Accounts
2. Select your Notre Dame e-mail account and click Properties
3. Click on the Advanced tab.
   
4. Place a check mark in both the incoming and outgoing mail sections for This server requires a secure connection (SSL)
5. Change the Outgoing mail port to 465.
6. Click OK and then Close

Now you can securely receive and send email through your Notre Dame email account from anywhere.
