Windows Mail IMAP Account Setup Instructions

Students: If you need to configure Windows Mail for your ND Gmail account, please visit: oit.nd.edu/google/imap_pop.shtml.

1. Open up Windows Mail and go to Tools > Accounts
2. Select your ND mail account click Properties
3. Click on the Servers tab.
   
   Server information is as follows…
   • My incoming mail server is a IMAP server.
   • Incoming mail (IMAP): imap.nd.edu
   • Outgoing mail (SMTP): smtp.nd.edu
   Incoming Server Information is as follows…
   • E-mail username: (your netid - e.g., asmith)
   • Password: (your password)
   • You may choose to check mark the box to Remember password, however to ensure the security of your email account, the OIT advises you to NOT have any program remember your password.
   Outgoing Mail Server
   • Check the box for My server requires authentication.
   • Click on the Advanced Tab.
     
     Server Port Numbers information is as follows...
     • Outgoing mail (SMTP): 465
     • Check mark the box for This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
     • Incoming mail (IMAP): 993
     • Check mark the box for This server requires a secure connection (SSL).
     • Click Apply then OK.
