Configure Outlook 2003 for Notre Dame Exchange Email
Students: If you need to configure Outlook for your ND Gmail account, please visit: oit.nd.edu/google/imap_pop.shtml.
If you are already an Outlook 2003 user, we highly suggest backing up your Outlook 2003 information before configuring Outlook to access Notre Dame Exchange. After backing up your information, proceed with the instructions below.
1) Go to your Control Panel and select Mail.
2) Choose "Add an email account", and then select "Microsoft Exchange Server".
3)Enter the following information to configure your account:
- Exchange server name: ice-mbx-1.ice.nd.edu
- Enter your NetID (e.g., asmith) - Do not click on "Check Name." This process will fail as there is no path to "Check Name" yet.
4) Click "More Settings".
5) On the Connection tab, select "Connect to my exchange mailbox using HTTP".
6) Click on "Exchange Proxy Settings".
7) In the field under "User this URL to connect to my proxy server for Exchange" type: autodiscover.nd.edu
8) Select "Mutually authenticate the session when connecting with SSL" and for Principal name type in: msstd:autodiscover.nd.edu
9) IMPORTANT! Select "On fast networks, connect w/ HTTP first...".
10) Select "In slow networks, connect w/ HTTP first...".
11) Under "Proxy Authentication Settings" select Basic Authentication.
12) Click OK.
13) Optional: Under Security tab check "encrypt data between Microsoft Outlook and the Exchange Server."
Now, when you login to your email in Outlook, you will need to sign in with your username as netid@nd.edu (e.g., asmith@nd.edu) and your Notre Dame password.
