Accessing your Notre Dame Exchange Email, Contacts, & Calendar on your Windows Mobile 6 Device
Note: The OIT strongly recommends that you configure your smartphone to require a passcode in order to access the phone if you use your smartphone to access or read any University information.
- On your Windows Mobile 6 device, press the Windows Start menu, arrow down to Programs.
- Select Active Sync.
- Click the link that says “setup your device to sync with it.”
- Enter your email address in the Email Address field as your netid@nd.edu (e.g.. asmith@nd.edu).
- Make sure the box is checked that says Attempt to detect Exchange Server Settings automatically.
- Click Next.
- Enter your NetID in the User name field.
- Enter your password in the Password field.
- Enter nd.edu in the Domain field.
- Make sure the box is checked that says Save password (required for automatic sync).
- Click Next.
- Make sure all boxes are checked on this screen and click Finish.
- A window will pop up saying that Exchange Server owa.nd.edu must enforce security policies on your device, click OK and your device will begin synchronizing.
Now you can check your email as you normally would.
Further configuration instructions
If you would like to make more detailed changes to how your device syncs, reopen Activesync as described above and follow these steps:
- Click Menu and choose Options.
- To change calendar options choose Calendar and click Settings.
- Here you can change how much of your calendar is set to by synced. Default is 2 weeks but you can adjust it using the drop down menu.
- When finished click the OK button.
- To change email options choose Email and click Settings.
- Here you can change how much of your email is synced to your phone. Default is 3 days, but you can adjust it using the drop down menu.
