SUSPECT LINK:
The link you have selected has been redirected here because it has been included on a list of suspect addresses for phishing or spam. This block occurred to protect you from relaying your personal information to an unintended recipient.
We take this action when we see a rise in the number of unsolicited emails from seemingly legitimate sources asking the recipient to update their personal information or from sources claiming an affiliation with the University attempting to sell goods or services. We block illegitimate sites that put you at risk when we detect them.
If you think you have reached this page in error, please contact your departmental IT staff or the OIT Help Desk at 574-631-8111 and provide information on how you learned of the link that led you to this page if you still want to access it.
Beware of Phishing!
Protect yourself against "phishing," scams perpetrated over the Internet by email or instant message senders pretending to be legitimate companies.
-
Do NOT respond to email messages or instant messages (no matter how legitimate they appear) that direct you to visit a web site that is outside of Notre Dame to change your password, to download software patches, or to make purchases.
-
Do NOT click on Internet links that may be included in these messages. Delete the emails immediately!
- As a rule of thumb, you should assume that any unsolicited email attempting to gain personal information, or especially trying to convince the recipient to click on a web link to update this information, is from an untrustworthy source.
- Any offer of goods or services claiming an affiliation with Notre Dame should be viewed with great skepticism. Any official relationship with companies offering goods or services will be CLEARLY identified in any sales or marketing effort and few if any will be advertised by email.
-
Messages referencing popular brands -- Microsoft, AOL, Best Buy, eBay and PayPal, or the name of a well known bank, for example -- in the address lines and other parts of the message are often ploys to steal personal information or to trick you into downloading a malicious program or giving away your password.
-
When in doubt, contact the company directly by telephone to verify the legitimacy of these types of messages. Do NOT respond to their email.
