Installing OpenAFS on OS X

1. Download the OpenAFS Installer here: OpenAFS
2. Double click the openafs.dmg file
3. Double click the OpenAFS.pkg file
4. Follow the prompts in the installer
Installation Succeeded

5. Reboot
6. After the reboot you will see a new AFS drive icon on the desktop.

*If you do not see the new drive icon do the following...
7. Click on the desktop to get the finder menu at the top
8. Click on the Finder Menu > Preferences

9. Check the option to show Connected Servers
10. You will now see the new AFS drive on the desktop
11. Open System Preferences > OpenAFS
12. Choose the CellServDB Editor Tab
13. in the CellServDB Search enter nd.edu

14. Check nd.edu for Tokens and Default. Uncheck grand.central.org
15. Choose the Tokens Tab

16. Check AFS Menu and Use aklog
17. Click Get New Token
19. Verify that the cell listed is nd.edu (if not, change it to nd.edu)
20. Enter your NetID and Password and Get Tokens (after you've done this once, it will cache your credentials, and you can click the OpenAFS icon by the clock to get new tokens when you need them)
21. Back on your desktop, double click the AFS icon. The first time you open this, it will take a few minutes to populate the data. Please be patient.
22. Click nd.edu
23. To access a courseware folder, find the semester, and then the course inside of that. (to create an alias, follow the same instructions below for you're personal space)
24. To access your personal AFS space, you need to know your user folder number.
25. Search for your name at eds.nd.edu/search
26. Under Additional Information click Attribute list
27. Look for the entry "ndunixhomedir" this will show you the path to your folder which includes your user folder number
28. Back in the nd.edu folder in AFS, double click your user folder number
29. When you find your netid, click and drag it to your desktop. From now on, as long as you have tokens you can open this directly to your AFS space.
