NOMAD
Wireless Setup
In order to connect to NOMAD, you will need the following:
- A computer equipped with an 802.11b wireless network card
- To be within a NOMAD “zone”
Next, you’ll need to register your wireless network card in order to be able to access the Internet.
- From within a NOMAD zone and with your wireless network card properly installed, turn on your computer and let it start up completely.
- Open a web browser, and you should be automatically redirected to the OIT’s Network Connection Registration page. If not, please go to: http://nas-ib-1.nm.nd.edu
- Scroll down the page, and select the radio button for Register Your Computer. Enter your NetID and password when prompted.
- Read the Responsible Use Policy and click the Accept button at the bottom of the page.
- On the next page, enter a unique name for a Host Name. From the pull-down list, select a domain that most closely reflects your location or department. For example, someone living in a residence hall would select resnet.nd.edu.
- Click the Register button at the bottom of the page. Mac Users: Be sure to follow any additional on-screen instructions.
- When you receive the successful registration page, you are done. Close your browser, and then restart your computer (on Windows, go to Start > Shutdown > Restart; on Mac OS 9, go to Special > Restart; on Mac OS X, go to the Apple menu > Restart). You should now be able to reach any web site on the Internet.
