Connecting to ND-Secure Wireless on Mac OS X
These instructions are for ND Students, Faculty, and Staff users that want to connect to ND-secure with a computer running OS X 10.4 or 10.5.
*Note: If you have previously connected to ND-guest network, please remove ND-guest from your prefered networks list under the advanced section of Airport Setup.
- Click on the “Go” Menu and scroll down to select Utilities.

- Double-Click KeyChain Access to open the Keychain utility.

- Click on the System Roots Category in the “Key Chains” area (in 10.4 Tiger Select X509Anchors instead of System Roots) and then scroll down to select the certificate titled Equifax Secure Certificate. Double Click the Equifax Secure Certificate to open its properties.

- Click the arrow to the left of the “Trust” Category to expand the trust options. Change the pull-down menu next to “When using this certificate:” to Always Trust. Then close the window. The system will ask for an Administrator password to save the changes. Then quit the Keychain Access application.

- Click on the Airport icon on the menu bar and scroll down to select the ND-secure wireless network.

- After selecting the ND-secure network from the Apple Airport menu, an 802.1X Authentication window will pop-up requesting user credentials. Enter your Notre Dame NetID (e.g., asmith) and password. (If the window appears again, just re-enter your credentials).

- The Apple Airport menu will now show the computer connected to the ND-secure wireless network.
Now you can then use the wireless network as you normally would. If you have any questions or problems connecting to the Notre Dame secure wireless network, please contact your departmental IT support staff or the OIT Help Desk at 574-631-8111.
