Network Outage
5/25/04 1:15 p.m.
A network hardware failure caused Notre Dame computer users to be unable to reach most IT services Tuesday. The network router that provides connectivity to the OIT Data Center failed shortly after 8:00 a.m. Network engeineers attempted to restart the router but were unable to do so. As a temporary fix, several services, including DNS and email, were temporarily patched in until new hardware could be configured and put in place. Replacement hardware was in place and working at 1:15 p.m. Most IT services, including email, Internet, AFS, and NetFile, now are operational. Some services that rely on Oracle or WebSphere, such as IrishLink, GLIQ, and HR Self Service may take slightly longer to come back online. OIT Network Engineers are taking steps to prevent future outages. If you have additional questions, please contact your departmental IT staff or the OIT Help Desk at 574-631-8111.
