Warning - IRS Phishing Scam

Many individuals are reporting receipt of an email message advising them they are eligible for an IRS refund.  Do not be deceived!  This is yet another phishing scam attempting to harvest your personal information and potentially steal your identity when you visit the web link in the email and provide the requested information.

The IRS does not use e-mail to initiate contact with taxpayers about issues related to their accounts.  The IRS has excellent information about this type of scam, and how you can protect yourself, posted at http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=136324,00.html.
