Sendmail Sentrion selected to replace the Barracuda Spam Firewall
Posted: August 6, 2007
After reviewing the three finalists for the replacement of the Barracuda spam appliance, the OIT has selected Sendmail as the partner and technology of choice. Sendmail’s Sentrion appliances are an enterprise-class email protection technology that will work seamlessly with the University’s current and future e-mail infrastructure. In addition to spam protection, it will bring enhanced 2-layer antivirus protection and protection against e-mail based phishing attacks.
The appliances were delivered late last week, and the OIT is currently working with Sendmail professional services staff to put them in operation as soon as possible in advance of Back-To-School period. Later this week, the OIT will send out additional details about the implementation of the Sentrion appliances, early views of documentation changes and communiqués to the campus, as well as the plans to eventually decommission the Barracuda Spam Firewall.
