Phishing Scam Alert
Last week several users reported receiving an email scam requesting their ND NetID and password, and this week some are reporting a message from Teachers Credit Union (TCU) seeking to confirm their information and directing them to a web page that asks for their credit card number. The web page is NOT a legitimate TCU page.
You should NEVER provide ANYONE with your password, Social Security Number, credit card number or other sensitive information by e-mail, as e-mail messages travel over the Internet in an insecure manner. Notre Dame will NEVER request this information from you via e-mail. NEVER use the contact information found in an e-mail that you think may be suspicious, or click on any links found in the message.
If you receive emails of this type, it is imperative that you do not reply with any sensitive information. If you think a request for your personal information might be legitimate, contact the department or institution, using its officially published phone number (either found in the phone book or by searching for its website online).
You can review more information about e-mail phishing at oit.nd.edu/email/phishingfaq.shtml and information about identity theft at secure.nd.edu. If you have additional questions, please contact your departmental IT support or the OIT Help Desk (574-631-8111).
