Phishing Scams May Look Legitimate -- Don't be Duped!
Yet another phishing scam arrived in email inboxes over the weekend. This particular phishing scam looks pretty legitimate, using the terms NetID and AFS ID, and indicating that if you don't respond your Webmail account will be deactivated. DO NOT provide your NetID or password to the sender! Remember - Notre Dame will NEVER request this information from you via e-mail. It is imperative that you do not reply with any sensitive information.
If you think a request for your personal information might be legitimate, contact the department or institution, using its officially published phone number (either found in the phone book or by searching for its website online). Never use the contact information found in an e-mail that asks for sensitive information, or click on any links found in the message.
If you have additional questions, please contact your departmental IT support or the OIT Help Desk (574-631-8111).
