Virus Activity Escalates--Is Your Computer Properly Protected?
Posted 3/27/09 1:55PM:
Security experts continue to see an increase in Internet viruses. A worm known as "Conficker" is scheduled to activate on Wednesday, April 1.
OIT techs have seen similar virus activity on the ND campus network. When a virus or worm is detected on the network, they take immediate action to block it from accessing the campus network and reduce the risk of infection to individual computers.
You can prevent network access loss and protect your computer and data by making sure:
1. Your operating system and anti-virus software are up-to-date
2. Your firewall is active
3. You have a current backup of your important data
If you need anti-virus software, please visit secure.nd.edu for detailed instructions.
If you have further questions or problems, please contact your departmental IT staff or the OIT Help Desk (574-631-8111) or visit secure.nd.edu.
