  • DNS Admin tool - Does not work; awaiting Web 2.0 release from the vendor later this fall

Security

  • Compliance Tool to Security Standards - OK
  • Cisco VPN - Using the built-in Mac VPN tool - OK (follow OIT supplied instructions); OIT distributed Cisco client does not work - OIT is working with Cisco to get an updated installer
  • McAfee VirusScan (Only 8.6.1 or 8.7 distributed by OIT) - OK

Applications & ND Services

  • Office 2008 suite (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Entourage) - OK
  • Banner - OK (using currently supported browser and Java versions)
  • insideND - OK (using currently supported browser and Java versions)
  • Concourse - OK (using currently supported browser and Java versions)
  • OpenAFS - Current ND distributed version does not work - Working version coming soon!; OIT will distribute an installer with the new release from OpenAFS on Friday 8/28/2009
  • NetFile - OK
  • Print@ND for Mac 1.0 - OK
  • Mail, iCal, & Address Book with Exchange - Minor issues (noted below)
    • The default configuration when following the on-screen instructions will work for Mail, iCal, & Address Book, however improved performance requires some minor configuration changes.  OIT has provided instructions on the optimal configuration for these applications.
    • The Exchange global address book is accessible, however sublists of the GAL are not available (e.g., "All Rooms" or "All Equipment").
    • The initial caching of mail and calendars may take some time depending on the size of the mailboxes and the amount of calendar data.
    • Mail and iCal only do timed updates of information; there is no "push."
    • When you respond to a meeting, the meeting organizer automatically receives an email noting your response.  You do not have the ability to not send a response and you do not have the ability to edit the response.
    • iCal's "show availability" feature will only show you free/busy time.  No details for busy time are shown, regardless of the access rights that you have.
    • Mail's "new message" count does not always update properly.
    • Address Book and searching the global address list in Mail and iCal does not allow for wildcard searches.  You must search starting with the beginning of the person or resource's name or email address.
    • When giving someone delegate access to your calendar using iCal, the delegate will automatically start receiving email notifications for your meeting invitations. There is no way to turn this off using iCal.  (Outlook does allow you to turn this off.)
    • When granting delegate access, you can only give someone access to your calendar and tasks - not to mail or contacts.
    • If you have delegate rights to someone's tasks, those tasks will show up in your reminders/to-do list in Mail, and there is no way to tell whose tasks are whose.  Tasks are color-coded when viewed from iCal to differentiate ownership.
    • There is no way to configure vacation/auto-reply via Mail; you must use Entourage or OWA from the Mac to setup vacation/auto-reply.
    • Some "all day events" setup up by others or setup using another program MAY show as 24 hour long events (instead of as an all day event note at the top of the day). This can be adjusted by using Entourage to adjust the start and end times for the all day event, and then choosing to mark it as an all day event. We continue to look into the cause(s) for this issue and for other workarounds.
    • Exchange Rules do not show up in Mail
