How do I get my ndID?
When you are accepted to the University as a student or hired as a faculty or staff member, the University assigns you a unique number called your ndID. You will need your ndID and date of birth to get your Notre Dame computer account (known as your NetID).
- New students will receive a letter containing their ndID and instructions on getting their accounts set up.
- New faculty & staff need to contact Human Resources to obtain their ndID
Once you arrive at the University, you can also find your ndID by viewing the number on your Notre Dame ID card.

For older ID cards, your ndID is the eight-digit number starting with “00” is converted to the ndID by adding a “9” as the first digit. As an example, if the number printed on the ID card is “00123456,” the example ndID using the ID card to the left is: 900123456

For newer ID cards, your ndID is the 9 digit number starting with 9 located on the front of your card just below your name. Using the example ID card to the left, the ndID is: 999999993
