Manually Install A Printer on Your Personal Computer
Windows - 32-bit and 64-bit OS
Instructions to manually setup you computer for printing in ResHalls and Computer Labs
Start by clicking on “Run” under the start menu in Windows
IF the run option is not available simply type run in the search box and hit enter. The run box should then pop up.
Type \\pharosdorms.cc.nd.edu for residence hall printers OR \\pharosclusters.cc.nd.edu for computer lab printers in the field under run and hit enter or click OK. It will then prompt for a username and password, type in your own Net ID and password and click OK. MAKE SURE to add @nd.edu after your username!
A list of available Residence Hall printers OR Computer Lab printers will be shown. Double-click and select “ResHalls” from the list of available printers OR for a computer lab printer, choose the lab printer you want to add to your computer.
You will then be asked to allow the installation of drivers for the new selected printer. Allow access by clicking “Install Driver”(in Vista) or OK (in XP). Your computer will now connect to the proper printer queue to allow printing to ResHalls OR Computer Lab printers.
EXAMPLE:
When attempting to print a document MAKE SURE that the “\\pharosdorms.cc.nd.edu\ResHalls”OR the"\\pharoscluster.cc.nd.edu\'computer lab of choice' is selected to receive the print job. Click OK to send your job for it to be released and printed.
