Print@ND Frequently Asked Questions

Windows Vista

Q) When I print to a Print@ND printer, the document never appears at the release station
A) This issue can be resolved by un-installing the previous version, deleting the currently installed pharos printers from Printers Control Panel, and re-installing the new Print@ND utility from here.

Q) When I print to a Print@ND printer, I receive a message that new print drivers need to be installed.
A) You'll need to install the new drivers following the on-screen instructions, OR install the new Print@ND utility from here which will do this for all Print@ND location.

Macintosh

Q) I'm using a Macintosh and can't print to Print@ND. Someone told me I need to change the short name?
A) Yes, the short username on your computer MUST be the same as your NetID. You'll find instructions for changing this here.

Windows XP

Q) I downloaded the software for printing to residence halls. However, when I try to double click on the icon, it says "to run this application, you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET framework..."
A) This issue can be resolved by installing the new Print@ND utility from here.

Q) I release my print job, but it never prints.
A)This issue can be resolved by installing the new Print@ND utility from here.

Q) When attempting to install the Print@ND software, I receive the error "Internal Error 2709. HPZid412.sys68". What do I do?
A) This error may occur if you have installed Print@ND versions from previous years. Use Add/Remove programs and uninstall the old utility. Then reinstall the new software and try again.

Q) Which printer on the list of available ones is the correct printer to select for my hall?
A) There are only two options for residence halls this year. Choose KeenanStandford if you wish to print to that location, choose ResHalls for all others.

Q) My computer is connected to ND-guest and I am unable to print to any Print@ND printer.
A) You must be connected to the network using ND-secure or Nomad to use Print@ND.

Q) Where is the printer located for my residence hall?
A) Check the list of Residence Hall printer locations.

Q) What is the release station?
A) Near every Print@ND printer is a computer referred to as the release station. You must login to that computer using your NetID and password, select your document that you wish to print and choose to release it. This provides security so that your document will not print until you are at the printer to pick it up. It also saves paper and toner if you accidentally queue something to print that you didn't really need. All print jobs in the queue will be purged after 6 hours if you haven't released them.
