Confirming Your Printer Settings in Windows XP

  1. Open the Printers and Faxes menu from the Windows Start menu.

  2. Right-click on the Xerox printer you wish to configure for Secure Print and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.

  3. On the Ports tab, choose the Standard TCP/IP Port that has a checkmark in the box to its left and click Configure Port.

  4. In the next window, look at the field titled “Printer Name or IP Address”. If this field contains a name ending in “nd.edu”, as shown in the image below, your printer is properly configured.
    If the field contains a numeric IP address (such as “129.74.250.111”) your printer is not properly configured. You should change the numeric IP address to the appropriate domain name. If you do not know the domain name for your printer, contact your departmental IT support personnel.
