Secure Print Instructions for Xerox Document Centre Printers for Windows

Xerox multifunction printers provide allow users to ensure the physical security of their documents by requiring that a PIN be entered at the unit before a document begins to print. This allows you to print a document from your computer and then walk to the printer before the document begins printing, preventing others from viewing the document as it prints before you arrive.

NOTE: Secure Print is only available on Windows systems. It is not available for other operating systems at this time.

To enable Secure Print on Windows XP systems:

  1. Open the Printers and Faxes menu from the Windows Start menu.
Start Menu > Printers & Faxes
  2. Right-click on the Xerox printer you wish to configure for Secure Print and choose Properties from the pop-up menu.
    Properties menu
  3. On the General tab, click the Printing Preferences button.
    Printing Preferences
  4. On the Layout tab, click the Advanced button.
    Layout > Advanced
  5. On the Advanced Options screen, click the pulldown arrow next to Job Type under Document Options/Printer Features. Change the setting to Secure Print.
    Job Type > Secure Print
  6. Choose a 4 digit numeric passcode and enter it twice into the Secure Print Password window. Press OK.
    Passcode Selection
  7. Click OK to close the Advanced Options window.
  8. Click OK to close the Printing Preferences window.
  9. Click OK to close the Printer Properties window.
