Service Status Definitions

The OIT posts the status of our major services in the IT Service Status dashboard located in the upper-right of any page on the OIT and OIT Help Desk web sites.  You can click on any service to see additional information about what is affecting those major services.  To help explain the status of key IT services at Notre Dame, the following graphics describe whether a service is available or experiencing some type of issue.

Description

ss_green

The service is functioning normally.

ss_yellow

The service has experienced a minor issue, and affects only part of campus.

ss_red

The service has experienced a major issue and is not currently available to most or all customers.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How do I report a suspected issue?

The OIT monitors the status of the servers that run most IT services at Notre Dame.  Sometimes though, you may become aware of a problem before the OIT knows.  To report a suspected issue, please follow the processes below.

During Normal Business Hours

During normal business hours if you experience a problem, please call the OIT Help Desk at (574) 631-8111. If the telephone Message of the Day (MOTD) confirms that we are already aware of the problem, you can hang up. If there is not a MOTD when you call, we may not be aware of the problem, so please stay on the line so you can relay your information to a Help Desk consultant.

Important note: Email sent to support addresses, voicemail messages and/or electronic contacts via Assyst are assumed to be non-urgent, low priority contacts. If you are reporting a service outage, please call us at (574) 631-8111 and stay on the line to speak to a consultant, to prevent delays in the notification process.

Outside Normal Business Hours

If you encounter a service outage outside normal business hours, please call the OIT Help Desk at (574) 631-8111 and follow the phone prompts to report a service outage.

Email & Text Message Notifications

If you would like to receive an email and/or text message about disruptions to IT services at Notre Dame, please subscribe to our notification system at http://ndoit.bbcportal.com.  You can choose how you get notified - whether you want email, a text message, or both.  Text messages will be used sparingly.  

Note:  This service does not currently use your Notre Dame login and password, so you will need to create your own account there.  We would recommend subscribing with the netid@nd.edu variation of your email address.
