NetFile - Map a Drive to Another's Space on Windows 2000/XP
- Open My Computer, go to the Tools menu, and select Map Network Drive. Windows will automatically assign the next available drive letter, but you may choose a different drive letter from the drop-down menu to suit your taste (we suggest using P:).
- In the Folder field, type the following path, substituting
the NetID of the person who's space you want to view (our example below
gives asmith) and the folder name they are sharing with you (our example
gives Public):
Example: \\fs.nd.edu\~asmith\Public

- Now, click on the link to Connect using a different user name.
- For your user name, enter: adnd\asmith (use your own NetID
where we have substituted in asmith) and enter your Notre Dame password.

- Click OK.
- You may choose whether or not to automatically reconnect to this drive at logon using the checkbox provided.
- Click Finish to complete the drive mapping.
The drive will now appear in your My Computer.
