NetFile - Map a Drive on Windows 2000/XP

  1. Open My Computer, go to the Tools menu, and select Map Network Drive. Windows will automatically assign the next available drive letter, but you may choose a different drive letter from the drop-down menu to suit your taste (we suggest using N:).
  2. In the Folder field, type the following path, substituting your own NetID where our example gives asmith:

    \\fs.nd.edu\~asmith

    map drive dialog
  3. Now, click on the link to Connect using a different user name.
  4. For your user name, enter: adnd\asmith (again, use your own NetID) and enter your Notre Dame password.

    connect as dialog
  5. Click OK.
  6. You may choose whether or not to automatically reconnect to this drive at logon using the checkbox provided.
  7. Click Finish to complete the drive mapping.

You can now find your NetFile drive by opening My Computer. The drive letter is displayed last in the description, similar to: ~asmith on fs.nd.edu (N:)
