Here is a quick set of steps to get you on the road to using IT at Notre Dame:

  1. Get Your NetID & Password - Most IT resources at Notre Dame are accessed by using your NetID (your Notre Dame computer user name) and password.
  2. Setup the Never Forget Your Password Service - This service makes it easy for you (and hard for others) to get your password in case you forget or lose it.
  3. Get the Right Computer! - Updated for Fall *2008* -- Here is information on the computer system requirements at Notre Dame and information on where to get computer hardware, software, and peripherals.
  4. Secure Your Computer! - This link provides you with a wealth of information, specific steps, and tools to help secure your computer.
  5. Get Connected On-Campus - Once you're on Notre Dame campus, use these instructions to connect your computer to the Notre Dame campus network.
  6. insideND - insideND delivers personalized content and secure access to University information and online groups for faculty, staff and students. Access insideND with your NetID and password.
  7. Get Your Email - Once you setup your NetID and password, you can access your Notre Dame email account. 
  8. Get Connected to Shared File Space - When your NetID and password are created, you are automatically assigned shared file space (also referred to as H: & I: drives, AFS, NetFile, Courseware, and NDAccess).  Shared file space makes it easy to use files from multiple locations, and the Courseware space is often used by faculty and students for coursework at Notre Dame.
  9. Concourse (formerly WebCT Vista) (Faculty/Students Only) - Concourse is a tool many faculty and use for coursework at Notre Dame.  Access it using your NetID and password.
  10. Clusters & Printing - All Notre Dame students, faculty, and staff can make use of the computer clusters and cluster printing services.
  11. Telecommunications - Find out all you need to know about telephone service at Notre Dame.
  12. Cellular Phone Service - Want to use a mobile phone while you're on-campus? Check out the upgrades to mobile phone service that are underway!
  13. Comcast - Find out about cable TV service in the residence halls or how to get a discount on off-campus high-speed Internet access.
  14. Where Can I Get Help? - Once you are a part of the Notre Dame community, there are a variety of IT support options available to you.
