Microsoft Campus Agreement for Notre Dame Students

(Revised for academic year 2009-2010 on July 14, 2009)

What Is the Microsoft Campus Agreement?

The University of Notre Dame and Microsoft have negotiated a license agreement which allows Notre Dame to offer many of Microsoft's popular titles to students at reduced prices. The following software titles are available under Microsoft Campus Agreement 3.5, which is valid through 6/30/2010 (renewed annually): Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade, Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007, and Office 2008 for Mac.  *As new versions of these titles are released before 6/30/2010, they may become available under this agreement. The titles available may change under future agreements. If changes occur, students may need to un-install software or purchase specific software titles.

Am I Eligible to Participate?

If you are a full-time or part-time student at the University of Notre Dame, you're eligible for this program as long as you're currently enrolled in at least one class which, when successfully completed, will result in the awarding of credit hours verifiable through the Office of the Registrar.

How Do I Get the Software?

You may purchase the media for this software in the ND Computer Store (Room 103, Information Technology Center). You must show proof of affiliation with the University, provide a valid ID card, and sign a license agreement. Indiana sales tax (7%) will be added to the purchase price. Most titles are $50 each. See the ND Computer Store for details.

Can I Keep the Software?

If the Microsoft Campus Agreement Student Option is terminated for any reason before you leave the University of Notre Dame, you must un-install the software from your computer. If you graduate from Notre Dame before 6/30/2010, you will receive a perpetual right to run the version of the software installed on your computer when you graduate. If you leave Notre Dame for any other reason before 6/30/2010, you must un-install the software from your computer. If you graduate or leave Notre Dame after 6/30/2010, your rights to keep the software will depend upon the terms of the agreement in place at that time.

Conditions of Usage

In order to participate in this program, you must agree to the terms of the contract which say, in part:

  • I am a student enrolled in at least one class at the University of Notre Dame;
  • I will not give, loan, sell, transfer, rent, or lease this software to anyone;
  • I understand I may purchase only one copy per product per version;
  • If, for any reason, the University of Notre Dame does not renew the Microsoft Campus Agreement, I agree to un-install all copies of installed software;
  • I understand that my use of this software is subject to the terms of the agreement between Microsoft and Notre Dame, including, but not limited to, the limitations on liability, disclaimer of warranties, and exclusion of remedies. If I fail to comply with these terms, I understand that I may be held responsible according to the terms of the agreement as well as applicable laws and regulations.

These terms are not the full license agreement as provided by Microsoft, not do they fully define your rights and limitations. For complete information on the current license rights, you can view relevant section(s) at the following web address location: www.microsoft.com/education/terms.mspx
