Using Web Forms on Web Pages Stored in NetFile
In order to utilize the web forms service on web pages that are stored in NetFile, you will need to create a .wwwinbox in NetFile. Because both Windows and Mac OS X operating systems do not allow you to create a folder beginning with a "." you will need to create this folder from within WebFile or from an SSH session.
To create the .wwwinbox folder in WebFile:
- Login to WebFile with the NetID and password for the account where the web pages are stored.
- Click on the NetFile Home option on the left side of the page.

- Then click on the New Folder button in the toolbar of the WebFile page.
- When the Add New Folder dialog appears, call the new folder: .wwwinbox
(Be SURE to place a period at the beginning of the folder name!)
- In WebFile, you should now see a .wwwinbox folder listed with your other NetFile folders (similar to the picture below).
- You will now need to grant the web server rights to the .wwwinbox folder. To do this, click on the .wwwinbox folder to view the contents of the folder. (For now, the folder will be empty.)
- Then click the Access Rights button in the WebFile toolbar.
- When the NetFile Permissions dialog appears, verify that you are managing the NetFile access rights at <netid>/.wwwinbox (this will be located near the top of the page. Then click the Add... button.

- In the dialog that appears, enter: adnd\webserv
Then click the Add... button.

- You will then automatically go back to the NetFile Permissions dialog. Make sure that webserv is highlighted in the list of user names in the top portion of the window. Then click the checkbox for Modify permissions. Click OK.

- A dialog will appear to confirm the changes you are making. Make sure that the changes are set to apply onto this folder, subfolders, and files. Then click the Change button.

You now will be able to setup forms on web pages in NetFile using the standard instructions. If you have questions or problems, please contact the OIT Help Desk at 574-631-8111.
