EMS Software
New EMS Launches in March
With over 3,000 classes and 7,000 events scheduled each academic year throughout campus, effectively managing room reservations has been a challenge. The Office of the Registrar manages 155 general purpose rooms, and Student Activities oversees the use of many campus facilities and the campus grounds for outdoor events.
The two offices have been using different software solutions—both of which are outdated—to manage events and room scheduling. As a result, staff members have experienced many scheduling conflicts, and had to spend a large amount of time scheduling and managing events.
The new Event Management System (EMS) software is intuitive, easy to use and will help increase efficiency in both offices. The all-in-one integration leverages the power of Microsoft Office and interfaces with Banner to provide a centralized campus calendar. The system is designed to prevent double booking and overbooking, and reduce scheduling and event management time, so staff can focus on customer service. It also uses automated change notifications and real-time access to the latest information.
The Office of the Registrar will use the EMS in March 2013 for scheduling fall classes, and Student Activities will begin scheduling campus events in April 2013.
