Zoom Translated Captions is a new feature available via a paid license for any Zoom meeting, webinar or event. It will allow Zoom meeting attendees to enable the caption feature to translate what a speaker is saying in their preferred language. If the owner of the meeting has this license, then all attendees can access its benefits when enabled.

The languages currently supported include English, Dutch, Chinese (simplified), French, German, Italian, Japanese (beta version), Korean (beta version), Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Ukrainian.

Other languages that will be added in the first quarter of 2023 include Arabic (MSA), Chinese (traditional), Czech, Estonian, Finnish, French (Canadian), Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Polish, Malay, Romanian, Tagalog, Tamil, Turkish and Vietnamese.

A license is required to have access to this service as a meeting host or participant and must be installed on the meeting owner’s account. The license for the Translated Captions feature is available from the Office of Information Technologies (OIT) Zoom team at an annual cost of $50.

A bulk order of licenses will be submitted in early February. Those interested in receiving a license by early March are encouraged to submit the request form by Tuesday, Jan. 31 2023.

Once the bulk order is submitted, individual orders will be processed as they are received with an expected turnaround of about two weeks.
