As a faculty member at Notre Dame, you have access to many valuable IT resources. This information will help you get the most out of technology at Notre Dame this semester, as well as highlight some new and updated services.
Use Eduroam for the Best Wifi Experience
Eduroam is the now the secure wireless network service on the main Notre Dame campus. To enable eduroam, run the new utility on each one of your mobile devices at: eduroam.nd.edu. You can do this anywhere WiFi is accessible, including at home.
Updated Sakai Offers Added Features
The Sakai update offers several convenient improvements, including a new Gradebook, and Lessons tool, as well as improved organization and access from mobile devices. For details, go to: ntrda.me/sakai.
New Panopto Service for Lecture Capture
Panopto allows you to record video presentations, manage your existing video files, and stream your content to any device. Details at: http://ntrda.me/lecturecapture.
Changes to Classroom & Lab Computers
All Registrar-managed classrooms and lab computers have been upgraded to Windows 10. You can now find your N: drive (NetFile) in the Start menu instead of on the desktop. The OIT strongly recommends using Google Drive or Box instead. To logout of a classroom computer, go to the Start menu. When the menu pops up in the lower left-hand corner, click on the icon that looks like the outline of a person’s head, and choose Sign Out. Details at: ntrda.me/ClassroomTechnology.
Zoom for Audio & Video Conferencing
As a faculty member at ND, you can use Zoom for audio and video conferencing at no cost. The OIT even has special kits to help you use Zoom in the classroom. For details about Zoom, visit: ntrda.me/zoom.
ND Mobile App
The ND Mobile app now has a faculty/staff persona to get you to the information you need faster. The app is available for iOS and Android devices, and at m.nd.edu for all devices. Details at: ntrda.me/mobile.
