Mandatory 10-Digit Dialing Begins on 10-24-21

On Sunday, Oct. 24, callers in the 219 or 574 area codes should begin using 10 digits (area code plus phone number) when placing local calls.

Though local calls dialed without the area code will still go through on Oct. 24, they will no longer go through after this date.

When making outside local calls from a Notre Dame phone, you’ll need to dial “8,” “1” and the area code—just like making a long distance call.

Minimum Version of Zoom Required for All ND Accounts

Office of Information Technologies (OIT) Zoom administrators will require anyone accessing the Zoom service with their Notre Dame NetID to update the version of Zoom to at least version 5.7.0 on all devices before Thursday, Aug. 12.

Improve Your Home Network Security

When working remotely, it’s important to maintain appropriate safeguards for your home network to ensure the safety and security of Notre Dame data and your personal information.

Your University-owned computer should be your first choice when working from home. If this computer was purchased through the Campus Workstation Program (CWP), it is secure for home use and easy to maintain. Use this computer for your work activities only.

Refresh your IT Skills with OIT’s Slate of Review Classes

This summer, the Office of Information Technologies (OIT) is offering 16 new refresher workshops rather than the regular slate of instructor-led, hands-on training classes. This shortened summer training schedule runs from July 13 through August 5.

Run the Eduroam Utility Before 6-27-21

Office of Information Technologies (OIT) system administrators will update the current eduroam certificate on Sunday, June 27 at 8 a.m. (ET).

To ensure you can connect to the campus WiFi network, it is recommended that you run the eduroam setup utility on each of your devices as soon as possible. This will configure your devices for the new certificate. You can do this from any location.

Campus Network Upgrade on 6-13-21

On Sunday, June 13, from 6 to 9 a.m. (ET), Office of Information Technologies (OIT) network engineers will upgrade the Notre Dame network (wired and wireless).

All network services on-campus, as well as in off-campus buildings, will be UNAVAILABLE for some or all of the maintenance period. Access to the campus network from overseas academic sites will also be unavailable.

IT Maintenance Begins on 6-5-21

Beginning Saturday, June 5 at 8:00 a.m. through 8:00 p.m. (ET) Sunday, June 6, 2021, Office of Information Technologies (OIT) systems engineers will perform a variety of planned maintenance activities and upgrades.

The Oracle databases servicing Banner, ODS, and Application Manager (AppWorx) will be upgraded to the latest version. This process is expected to take up to 24 hours and will result in a longer than normal maintenance window for systems dependent on these databases. There will also be Banner application upgrades required for major projects currently underway.

Don’t Lose Access to Your ND Files After You Graduate

Congratulations graduate! As you prepare for your graduation, be sure to review these important guidelines to maintain access to important documents, files and resources.

Your Notre Dame NetID will be deactivated 60 days after you graduate. Be sure to transfer any of these resources you want to keep from your Notre Dame student account to a personal account—such as your new Notre Dame alumni account—before the deactivation date.

Behind the Scenes: How ND Studios supported a livestream event from space

Astronaut Mike Hopkins, father of Notre Dame student Lucas Hopkins, was aboard the International Space Station traveling approximately 250 miles above the earth’s surface when the conversation took place.
