The following message applies to all faculty and staff who use a desktop and laptop computer connected to the University network with a wired connection or docking station.
On Tuesday, September 17, at 6:00 am (ET), if you use a wired network connection, you will need to log into your account in order to gain access to the correct network connection. On that day and every 90 days after, you will be asked to enter your username (NetID) and password, then reboot your computer in order to maintain connectivity and increase the security of the network.
To avoid logging in every 90 days and to ensure your computer remains verified to use the network, you can download and install the 802.1x application by going to http://wired.connect.nd.edu and following these directions. Using the 802.1x connection will verify your access to the network without requiring you to login manually.
The following devices are exempt from this requirement:
- Devices using only wireless connection (phones, tablets, etc.)
- Wired computers in residence halls
- Devices that have been registered in Zonereg (network printers, VOIP phones, etc.)
