Steps To Getting Started
Your University NetID is the key to most technology resources on campus, including email, campus networks, shared file systems, and the insideND portal. To set up your NetID and password, visit the NetID activation page.
Notre Dame provides all students with access to the Google Apps suite, including an nd.edu Gmail account. You can log in to your account with your NetID and password at ND Gmail. If you need help, you can find a wide variety of Google Apps Support.
You'll want to get your computers, phones, and other devices connected to either the campus wired network or our ND-Secure wireless network. If you're trying to connect an entertainment system or gaming device, there are special steps for those devices that you should follow.
The OIT provides all students with a quota of free printing as part of your campus technology fee. Be sure to set up your computer to use the PrintND service to print in a residence hall or any OIT computer lab.
The Hammes Hub is a full-service technology store located in the Hammes Bookstore at the Eck Center. You can take advantage of ND discounts on Apple, Dell and Lenovo computers, computer accessories and software.
You also have access to Microsoft Office 365 through Notre Dame. Go to http://portal.office.com/ to log in with your NetID and Password to access online services and download Office 2016.
You can also download a copy of the Student IT Guide for the academic year 2016-2017. It contains valuable information on a variety of IT services on campus.
6. Do not use your student account to create a YouTube account!
Your student Google account will only remain active as long as you are a student at Notre Dame. If you want to start a YouTube channel, use a personal account. Once your account is disabled when you graduate, you won't be able to access your YouTube channel, and there is no way to transfer a channel from one account to another.
