1. Activate Your NetID and Set Your Password and MFA
Your NetID is your key to accessing nearly all Notre Dame online services.
- Look for the Activation Email: Check the non-Notre Dame email address you provided during your admission process. You'll receive an email with the subject line "Activate your Notre Dame account" from noreply@okta.com.
- Follow the Instructions: This email contains a link that will guide you through the process of setting up your NetID and creating your password.
- Important: This activation link is only active for 7 days, so be sure to complete this step promptly!
- Set Up Okta Verify On Your Computer and Smartphone/Tablet: Follow the instructions here to set up Okta Verify on at least two of your devices.
2. Access Your Student Email and Calendar
Stay on top of your academic and campus life with your official Notre Dame email and calendar.
- Email: Go to gmail.nd.edu
- Calendar: Go to calendar.google.com
- Log In: Use your newly established NetID and password to log in to both services.
3. Connect to the Notre Dame Network
Get all your devices connected to the campus internet.
- Wireless (Wi-Fi): Connect your computers, phones, and tablets to the eduroam wireless network for secure and reliable access across campus.
- Gaming & Entertainment Devices: For devices like gaming consoles, smart TVs, or streaming sticks, there are special connection steps you'll need to follow.
4. Configure Printing on Your Computer (PrintND)
Printing services across campus.
- Free Printing Quota: as a student, you are allotted a printing quota (included in your campus technology fee)
- Set Up PrintND: Be sure to configure your computer to use the PrintND service. This will allow you to print easily from your personal device to printers in your residence hall and academic buildings on campus.
5. Consider Purchasing a Computer (Notre Dame Bookstore)
Looking for a new device? Take advantage of student discounts.
- Campus Technology Store: Visit the full-service technology store located within the Notre Dame Bookstore at the Eck Center.
- ND Discounts: You can find special Notre Dame discounts on a variety of computers (Apple, MSI, Dell, and more), computer accessories, and software.
- Recommended Specifications: Before you buy, check out our recommended minimum computer specifications to ensure your new device meets academic needs.
Important Alert: Your Student Google Account and Third Party Apps
Do NOT use your Notre Dame student Google account or email to link to non-ND related accounts or apps!
- Account Deactivation: Your student Google account will only remain active for as long as you are officially a student at Notre Dame.
- Loss of Access: Once your account is disabled after graduation, you will lose all access to any accounts created with your ND email address or Google account.
- Limited Transfer Options for Some Accounts: There is no way to transfer certain kinds of accounts (for example, a YouTube channel) from one Google account to another.
Recommendation: If you plan to create any non-ND related accounts, always use a personal email address/Google account (e.g., a standard Gmail account) that is separate from your Notre Dame student account.
