Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information Officer

Since 2021, Jane Livingston has led Information Technology at the University of Notre Dame and the Office of Information Technology (OIT), which provides leadership, technology services, and support for the campus and for ND’s international programs. Her primary focus since she arrived has been on strengthening strategy in support of technology decision-making and stewardship, technology innovation and support, and cultivating a talented and high performing staff. She has introduced several initiatives to strengthen an already exceptional IT program, including a new IT governance model, culture and engagement team, IT@ND, preferred name, IT Fellows and Pathways programs, and building solid collaborations with Libraries and Research.

Jane has more than 20 years of leadership success supporting all aspects of technology in higher education across a variety of types of institutions including liberal arts college, ivy league university and state university.

She currently serves on the Educause Board of Directors and the steering committee for the Common Solutions Group. She is passionate about growing and fostering strong, diverse teams that innovate in complex, matrixed environments. Jane works to build relationships and partner across organizational lines to create solutions that reflect the needs of the whole university.

Before Notre Dame, Jane served as associate vice president and CIO at Florida State University from 2019-2021. Before FSU, Jane spent 13 years at Yale University in a progression of leadership positions and was awarded the 2017 Linda Lorimer Award for distinguished service. At Yale, Jane was also the executive sponsor of Yale’s Women in Technology program and IT’s Climate, Culture and Inclusion Task Force. Jane has a BA in History and Gender studies from Wichita State University and a MS in information management from Syracuse University. She is also a fellow of Educause Leadership Institute, Leading Change Institute and the MOR Advanced Leaders Program.

Jane lives in South Bend with her husband Bert and their cat, Apollo. She enjoys all the time she can spend with her two children, Mia Livingston-Edwards and Rowan Lott, who both live in Portland, Oregon.
