Have you recently reported a potential phishing message from your inbox and wondered what happened next? A new feature of the email security solution we introduced in November will let you know what our investigation found!
The email security solution does a great job of keeping scam messages from hitting inboxes, but sometimes something phishy can still get through. So, reporting anything that seems suspicious is an important way to keep our organization safe. You can find instructions for reporting phishing in the Knowledge Base, or forward messages directly to phishing@nd.edu.
Once you report, your submission will be analyzed and you will receive one of the following responses:
-
Safe: we’ve found that it’s from a legitimate source and doesn’t appear to be phishing
-
Malicious: the message you reported is indeed malicious and will be removed from inboxes
-
Spam: we reviewed the message you submitted and determined the message to be spam
This email security tool helps us keep the bad guys at bay, and your reporting helps it to continue to learn and get better. We hope this new enhancement takes some of the question marks out of the process for you and helps you learn along the way too.
