Liaison Program

The Information Security Office’s Liaison Program aims to connect all schools, departments and groups across campus to build a strong network of trust and collaboration on security and risk related efforts. The goals of this program are to build trust, streamline communication, reduce risk, improve response time, and raise overall awareness and education around information security.

Responsibilities of Security Liaisons

 

Understanding of information security threats, cyber hygiene best practices, and related policies:

  • Familiarity with Notre Dame’s information security standards, initiatives and other resources

  • Completion of Liaison certification training

  • Basic understanding of legal and regulatory obligations regarding information security specific to your area of focus (if applicable) 

Actively Promote Security Awareness Among Colleagues and Report to Leadership

  • Reinforce security awareness messages and communications with colleagues and serve as departmental point person for questions or concerns.

  • Assess the need for additional information security training specific to departmental risks, regulations, threats and knowledge gaps.

  • Advocate for information security considerations with respect to departmental initiatives and programs.

Act as Contact Person in Case of Security Incident

  • If an information security incident arises, assist in collecting and sharing relevant information regarding the incident, help craft an appropriate response plan, and executive additional tasks and follow up as Information Security dictates based on the scenario.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of information and situations concerning Notre Dame security incidents.

  • Manage departmental risk reporting

  • Develop and manage departmental disaster recovery documentation

  • Develop, manage and educate colleagues on departmental processes and procedures related to information security and risk management concerns.
