Technology Positions for Students
OIT has a variety of learning opportunities for students. These positions are specifically structured to work around a Notre Dame full course load. Several departments within IT have positions for students wishing to explore career possibilities in IT including the following:
- Marketing: Work with our content specialist on videos, social media and special project campaigns
- Communications: Learn how to draft internal communications and campus IT announcements
- Web Development: Build websites and web pages using HTML, CSS and Javascript
- Information Security: Learn risk assessment and information security best practices
- Application Development: Apply project management skills, programming languages, QA and BI to impactful projects
- Project Management: Assist the PPMO with project management tasks
- OIT Help Desk: Work as a help desk consultant to assist walkup, phone and email service requests

What an IT student position looks like
Working with an OIT department is a professional learning experience that offers meaningful, practical work with the Office of Information Technology. You will have the opportunity to explore an area or IT, develop competencies and learn new skills. Each area of OIT is different, so tasks, projects and responsibilities will vary.
What you can expect
All student employees can expect to have a staff mentor on their team. Your supervisor will schedule regular 1:1 meetings with you to help keep you on track, delegate tasks and coach you as a member of the team. Some teams will include you on additional meetings to keep up to date on project work and team needs.
OIT Student Jobs
OIT offers positions for high school students, summer college opportunities, and UND/HCC/SMC students during the academic year.
Who: Current college students looking to explore an area of IT
What: Engage and collaborate with IT professionals in meaningful work
Where: Various departments within OIT
When: During the semester (for Notre Dame students) and during the summer (all college students may apply)
Why: Prepare for future academic work in IT, or enter the IT Fellows programs
Hours: 3-15 hrs/week; schedule will vary depending on the department and projects. Flexible hours
Pay: Notre Dame student employment starts at $15/hr
