Introducing Okta FastPass!

 

Goodbye, traditional passwords. Hello, passwordless future! Now introducing, Okta FastPass. A new feature in Okta that provides a passwordless login experience for Notre Dame accounts.

Get started:

First, make sure Windows Hello, Mac TouchID, FaceID, or the equivalent features on your device are turned on, and then follow the registration instructions for your device.

Who Can Use FastPass?

  • Anyone with an active NetID.

What's in it For You?:

  • Faster authentication experience.
  • Safer than a created password.
  • One less password to remember.

How is FastPass More Secure Than a Password?:

  • Attackers can't imitate someone's biometrics.
  • Eliminates passwords as a potential target for hackers.

Things To Know:

  • At this time, FastPass is not enabled for ND admin accounts.
  • FastPass works best for those with biometric capabilities on their device(s).
  • For security, FastPass should not be used on shared devices.

Don't Have Biometrics?

  • For PC, you can use a PIN through Windows Hello.
  • For Mac, use the push notification through Okta Verify on your cellphone for faster authentication.
  • 1Password is highly recommended by the University to safeguard your passwords if you are unable to utilize FastPass.
