Starting in January 2025, university-owned computers and phones will begin transitioning to wireless.
Moving Campus Forward
The the three major components involved in Wireless First:
- Transitioning campus workspaces to wireless connections
- Implementing Webex Calling and removing outdated desk phones
- Enhancing Wireless Connectivity all around campus, indoors and outside
New Tools and Options
With Webex Calling, the Notre Dame community can make and receive calls with their device of choice.

No need to use personal devices to make and receive phone calls

Webex calling will be available for use on tablets, desktop computers, laptops and mobile devices
- The Webex calling app can be downloaded for Apple and Android
- Make and receive calls from any location
- Voicemail, audio and video streams are all encrypted
Moving Away From Wired Connections, and Toward The Future
Positioning campus to be on the cutting edge of technology so growth is not inhibited by obsolete systems.
- Transitioning workspaces to wireless connections and removing wired connections
- Updating hardware to be compatable for the work ahead
Supported By a Strong Network
Wireless connections and Webex Calling rely on stable wifi throughout campus.
- Wifi inside campus buildings has been upgraded and tested
- Indoor wifi access points have increased from 2,500 to over 12,000 - greatly increasing the density of coverage
- More wifi is being added to greenspaces outdoors around campus
