ND-device Network
Starting July 6, 2026, the ND-guest network will be reconfigured to support Notre Dame guests only. If you manage research instrumentation, specialized sensors, or departmental equipment incompatible with eduroam, you must migrate them to the new, encrypted ND-device network to maintain connectivity. ND-guest will provide Wi-Fi connectivity only, with no access to internal ND applications.
The Two Steps You Need To Take

Identify any network-enabled hardware currently utilizing ND-guest (e.g., lab sensors, wireless 3D printers, smart office tools). For each device, locate its MAC address and assign a clear departmental name/NetID.

Register devices for ND-device: Complete the registration process via the self-service portal.
NOTE: You must be on campus or using the VPN to view the registration portal.

The phased, building-by-building migration begins on July 6 and continues on July 13 and July 14, 2026. To avoid losing Wi-Fi connectivity, your devices must be registered before your specific building’s deadline.
Why This Matters

Enhanced Security: Unlike the open guest network, ND-device is fully encrypted, ensuring better protection for institutional data and research.
Improved Workflow: Hardware on ND-device will communicate directly with laptops or workstations connected to eduroam, streamlining data collection and remote management.
